Burgess v. American Honda Motor Company, Inc.

About the Case:

Terrell Marshall Law Group PLLC is pursuing a class action lawsuit against American Honda Motor Company, Inc. on behalf of consumers who purchased or leased Acura vehicles with Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink™ systems. Plaintiff Charles Burgess alleges in his complaint that the HandsFreeLink™ system contains a defect which prevents it from shutting down, even when the vehicle’s ignition is turned off. Once locked in the “on” position, the HandsFreeLink™ system drains the vehicle’s electric system, which consumes the battery and leads to premature failure of other essential electric components. Mr. Burgess alleges that Honda has known about the defect since at least June 2005, but has not notified its customers.

Case Status:

Plaintiff filed his complaint in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in March 2017. The case is currently pending before the Honorable Jon S. Tigar.
