This week The Guardian published Rosa Moreno’s poignant article, “When I lost my hands making flatscreens I can’t afford, nobody would help me.”. In her compelling op-ed, Moreno unearths the struggles she has faced in light of the catastrophic injury she suffered while manufacturing LG flatscreen televisions. Due to a technicality, Moreno’s work injury lawsuit was vacated, and she was denied her day in court.
Public Justice’s Illuminating Justice Award is designed to assist those who have suffered significant injuries but for certain legal reasons were unable to get their just compensation. With a generous contribution from Synergy’s Foundation for those with Special Needs, recipients of the award are endowed with a $25,000 check during their annual gala.
