TMLG Files Class Action Lawsuit Against Monsanto Company

June 06, 2013

Terrell Marshall Law Group PLLC has filed a class action lawsuit against the Monsanto Company on behalf of Pacific Northwest wheat farmers and the Center for Food Safety. Plaintiffs allege Monsanto negligently released or allowed the release of genetically engineered, glyphosate-resistant (Roundup Ready®) wheat seeds. Monsanto’s genetically engineered wheat has not been approved for sale or commercial production in the United States. The presence of Monsanto’s genetically engineered wheat in eastern Oregon spurred top wheat importers such as Japan, South Korea and the European Union to enact restrictions on American wheat or call for testing.

Plaintiffs seek compensatory damages and injunctive relief requiring that Monsanto decontaminate their farming, harvesting and transportation equipment, and their on-farm storage facilities, to prevent future contamination. Plaintiffs further seek, on behalf of themselves and all other members of the Class, punitive damages as a result of Monsanto’s reckless and willful conduct.

If you are a farmer or wheat broker in Oregon or Idaho, we would like to talk to you. Please call 206.518.6228 or email us at classactions@terrellmarshall.com.
