TMLG Files Suit for Violations of Statutes and Regulations Governing Residential Mortgage Loan Modification Services

April 30, 2013

The Seattle firm of Terrell Marshall Law Group PLLC, along with The Scott Law Group PS in Spokane, has filed a class action lawsuit against Defendants Legal Helpers Debt Resolution LLC, The Mortgage Law Group LLP, American Platinum Financial Services, Inc. and other related individuals and entities for violating statutes and regulations governing residential mortgage loan modification services. Among other things, the complaint alleges that Defendants engaged in unfair and deceptive acts and practices and charged fees to consumers in excess of limitations imposed under Washington law.

The named Plaintiffs in the lawsuit are Washington residents. In 2010 Plaintiffs entered into an agreement with Legal Helpers Debt Resolution LLC (“LHDR”), also known as the law firm of Macey, Aleman, Hyslip & Searns, for mortgage modification services. Plaintiffs allege that LHDR charged them more than $2,800 but failed to obtain a loan modification.

Plaintiffs seek injunctive relief and monetary damages on behalf of themselves and a class of similarly situated Washington residents.

Plaintiffs are represented by Toby Marshall of Terrell Marshall Law Group PLLC (206.518.6228 or classactions@terrellmarshall.com) and Darrell Scott and Matt Zuchetto of The Scott Law Group PS (509.455.3966).
